A practical guide from the vehicle shipping specialists at Gech Inc.
Shipping a motorcycle is a specialized service that requires specialized equipment and experience. Here are our top tips for a smooth motorcycle transport experience.
Open motorcycle transport is fine for older or utility bikes. But for sport bikes, custom paint, vintage models and anything over $15,000, enclosed transport is worth the extra cost.
Most carriers want fuel under a quarter tank. Disconnecting the battery prevents alarm issues and accidental drains.
Take photos of every fairing, the tank, both sides of the seat, the wheels and any existing scratches. Date-stamp the photos.
Saddlebags, GPS units, dash cameras, helmets, gloves โ anything not bolted on should travel separately.
Walk around the bike with the driver at pickup. Anything not noted at pickup is hard to claim at delivery.
If the bike doesn't run, tell us before booking. Carriers need to know whether to bring a winch and pallet.
Crates aren't required but add protection for ultra-high-value bikes, partially disassembled motorcycles or international-style packaging.
Confirm the carrier's cargo insurance covers your bike's full value before dispatch.
